Making "programming" cool again

Many computer and information scientists have lamented the loss of luster of computing careers over the past several years. For example, Ed Lazowska gave this presentation at this year's CRA conference (in Snowbird). At SIS, we have struggled with this as well as we have watched enrollments decline in the IS and Telecom. As many of you already know, we have responded by reorganizing our curriculum to re-focus on what students can do with information technologies.

So, it is nice to see this issue gain some attention in the MSM in this article in today's BusinessWeek. Hopefully, articles like this will ultimately help our cause ...
